Wedding Albums and Why They’re Valuable

Hello! If you’ve found your way here, maybe you’re thinking about investing in a wedding album? Let me start by saying, I’m not here setting out to sell you things. Above all else, I’m always here to be a resource for you, to answer any questions, and to help you capture and treasure your big day in just the way that’s right for you. I promise.

Now to dive into wedding album basics: I always tell brides and grooms that wedding photos are one of the only things that will last beyond your wedding. At the end of the day, and after the honeymoon, the moving, the thank you cards, you have a gallery with treasured memories to look back and remember each precious moment. I have always been a big advocate for printing your photos. I have walls and drawers full of pictures from events, travels, and some of my favorite day-to-day memories, and the collection keeps growing! Recently, I’ve fallen more and more in love with fine art albums – a beautiful, sturdy, elegant book full of your favorite photos.

While I’ve never been married myself, I do believe that having a simple album is an amazing investment for you, your sweetheart, and the family that you’ve just begun. Weddings cost a lot! A lot of time, energy, money, and patience, squaring away every detail. And where hard drives fail and computers break, an album can stand the test of time for all to look back on (and for you to show off your photos to all of your house guests, of course!) Another wonderful thing about albums, is that you don’t have to make the decision right now. If your first anniversary is around the corner and that’s when you decide you’d like to have one, then great! Let’s do it!

I hear “fine art wedding album” thrown around fairly often, and I wanted to break it down a little bit. You have your DIY websites with photo books, and believe me, I’ve made a handful of those, but these wedding albums are much different. I take some of our favorite photos from your day, and we work together to design each page exactly how you want it. Then the album is hand-printed and carefully bound by RedTree in Kentucky, placed in a cloth cover, then in a box, then in an even bigger box, filled with loads of packing peanuts, all to ensure that it makes its way safely to your door. In all honesty, I’m a budget gal myself. And of course I’m a bit biased, being a wedding photographer, but lost photos are heartbreaking. Whether it be an album or gallery prints, I think printing photos is a very worthwhile investment!
