The Standard Knoxville Morning Wedding | Emily & Jon

Emily and Jon were married in an intimate Sunday morning wedding at the Standard in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Standard is a gorgeous venue downtown with a spacious indoors for their coronavirus-conscious reception, and an outdoor patio where they held their ceremony beneath a canopy of ivy, overlooking parts of the city. Emily and Jon’s intimate wedding was predominately DIY, with dried flowers hand picked and put together by both bride and groom, and laid out on tables and walls the day before. The unique touches of the Standard were a perfect fit for Emily and Jon’s day, and every diy touch was executed incredibly well. As Emily’s sister, I spent much of the day photographing, and the ceremony by her side with the bridal party while my associate photographer took the reins. Here are some of my favorite shots from Emily and Jon’s intimate morning wedding below.

Knoxville, Tennessee is home to dozens of wedding venues, and the Standard is by far one of my favorites. It’s large enough for the grandest of parties, with smaller spaces perfect for the most intimate of gatherings. The patio was the perfect spot for an intimate morning ceremony, with the sun rising over the hills behind us.

The Standard Knoxville stands near the heart of downtown, overlooking the railroad and walking distance from a handful of shops and restaurants. It’s tucked away enough to avoid hoards of people along the sidewalk, yet perfectly positioned in the heart of Knoxville. The interior walls are iconic, with their speckled greenish paint and exposed brick, and the massive windows let in all the light you could ever need. Emily and Jon followed me all over the property during their portrait session because there were too many gorgeous spaces to choose from.

Knoxville has plenty of places to stay, whether Airbnb or even a cabin just 1.5 hours away in Gatlinburg. Hiking in the Smoky Mountains was one of my favorite activities growing up, and I recommend it to anyone who finds themselves in Knoxville and can stay an extra day or two! This aptly named website has plenty of hikes: http://www.hikinginthesmokys.com
