Caitlin and Gage’s gorgeous spring wedding at Battle Mountain Farm was full of family and celebration. Sweeping green fields, a modern yet rustic barn, and a full dance floor that partied into the night. Caitlin and Gage met through their families’ yearly vacation, which came out of a close friendship of their grandfathers’ from nearly 70 years ago. I asked them to share some of their story below, and it is one of the sweetest!
Here is how we met:
Our story has been one in the making for over 70 years. Our grandfathers met at the University of Kentucky playing football. As they both pursued careers in the NFL (coaching & scouting), they always stayed in touch. Through the years, their families grew and vacations to the lake began. For more than 30 years, our families have been best friends and spent one week every year at a lake house in Kentucky. Gage and I grew up there tubing, playing volleyball, and fishing together.
There was always something about him: a kindness and thoughtfulness. He was so respectful to everyone. His laidback nature and southern charm drew me in. He would tell stories of him and his buddies, entertaining a crowd. He loved playing with the kids. Joking with them and running around with them. I couldn’t help but notice that he is a family man through and through.
There was always something about her: She was always so happy and energetic. Laughed at all my stupid jokes and for some reason didn’t mind being around me. Her hard working attitude and always putting family first always stood out to me. I never could put it into words, but I always knew that there was something special about her and that seeing her was one of the best parts about going to the lake.
Three summers ago, we decided to give our spark a try. Two and half years of long distance later, lots of ups and downs, miles traveled, and memories made. We got engaged and now married. Our families are now OFFICIALLY related.

Battle Mountain Farm is a gorgeous wedding venue owned by the Hatcher Family, of Hatcher Family Dairy. The venue itself is next to large, rolling Tennessee pastures with the Hatchers’ dairy cows, who came up to greet us during our portrait session. Meeting Caitlin and Gage at Battle Mountain Farm in February was the first that I had been there, and it’s gorgeous! They have several options for indoor and outdoor ceremony locations, and the Bennetts opted to have both in the same location, in case of rain (which ended up being perfect for this rainy day wedding!) The staff were incredibly helpful and kind, and all of Caitlin and Gage’s all-star vendors made the day run smoothly and beautifully. If you’re looking for an outdoor venue off the beaten path, Battle Mountain Farm is a hidden gem.
